Some of our products for sale here can be an irritant to the skin and Fibretech GB recommend the use of protective surgical gloves. You should also consider eye protection if a risk of splashing exists. In addition many chemicals should not be inhaled therefore ensure you work in a well ventilated area.


Epoxy Resin measuring Tip

For best results weigh out the required amount of resin, divide this by 100, then multiply by the Hardener ratio found on Hardener container (weight) to give you Hardener quantity. Then mix well. Always use the correct Hardener for Epoxy Resin as most of the Hardeners are not interchangeable unlike Polyester Resin.


Fibretech GB Finishing Epoxy resin

This resin is very low viscosity, which makes an ideal resin for use with lightweight glass cloth on model aircraft wings and fuselage. With its long pot life of 45 minutes, this gives you plenty of working time. The resin curing process should be left at temperature 20C or above for 24-36 hours.

Usually 2 coats are applied, one to wet out the glass cloth and another to fill the weave of the glass fibre cloth.

This produces a smooth, tough and highly durable surface. This surface will accept all paints such as high build filler primer, Humbrol enamels, cellulose, acrylic, and two pack synthetics.

 

Fibretech GB Formula GB Epoxy Laminating resin

This resin is very low viscosity and this Resin system is good for making mouldings where a longer pot life is required, the pot life (working time) is 40 minutes and the cure time is 24 hour's at room temp (20C), This resin and hardener is also ideal for excepting fillers such as:- Micro- balloons, Super lightweight fairing compound, Micro-fibres, Thixotropic agent etc, also great for bonding most materials.


Fibretech GB Epoxy Laminating Resin Pro

This resin is low viscosity and this system is generally used for making cowls, spinners, wheel spats, small items in a mould. It is also good for using for fast repairs to moulded fuselages and good for joining wings together where a longer working time is needed rather than using five-minute epoxy resin. Also it is good for bonding wood, foam, metals etc.

This resin has a cure time and pot life as follows:-

12-hour cure time with a pot life (working time) of 15 minutes With the 12 hour cure time, the mixing pot can become very warm so we recommend measuring the correct ratio of hardener but once mixed put into a tray to spread out the heat build up. Also only mix up small batches of resin and hardener.


Finishing Epoxy Resin with Hardener

Ideal for surface finishing on model aircraft.

The Cured resin will accept all paints.

Also totally fuel proof once cured.

Full depth cure
Pot life 45mins / Cure time 24-36 hours
Can be heated up to 50C to reduce the cure time.
(Warmer lowers the viscosity of the resin)

Non shrink tack free glossy surface finish super low viscosity. Once the resin has cured the resin will become totally fuel proof. Ideal for surface finishing on model Aircraft and Boats where a clear finish is required or alternatively the cured resin surface will accept all paints.

Can be used in conjunction with Glass, Kevlar and Carbon Fibre.

This epoxy resin will not attack foams, white, pink or blue. Super low viscosity & clear. Bonds to most materials.

Water Based Coating Resin

20 minute touch dry/ re-coat in 1 hour

Matt or Gloss


Dries with a hard finish. 2 coats required or 3 coats if straight on bear wood without sealing surface. Lightly sand surface prior to final coat. Brushes and Tools can be washed off in water. For surface finishing only. Avoid contact with eyes and skin, wear suitable gloves and eye protection. Work in a well ventilated area.

 

For use with lightweight glass cloth for covering model aircraft Single part and doesn't attack foams white, pink or blue. Not as ding resistance as Finishing Epoxy Resin and Hardener.

Apply the Priming Wax to the mould surface,

after 3 minutes rub gently with a soft cotton cloth to

remove straie caused by uneven thick application.

Repeat 3 to 5 times then leave in a warm room for the solvents to evaporate for 12 hours.

After 12 hours then apply the Film release agent PVA

Release agent for epoxy and polyester resin with max curing temperatures of 100°c Silicone-free.



Any residue in the mould and on the component dissolves in water and is simply washed off. One coat of PVA is applied after each and every de-moulding. For the optimal surfaces we recommend the combination with priming wax.

New moulds must be prepared as follows:
1.) Apply three to five coats of priming wax, rubbing each layer with a cotton after a few minutes.

2.) Place the mould for a number of hours or overnight in a heated room so that the solvent can evaporate.

3.) Apply PVA with a release varnish brush and Moltopren sponge or with a very fine hair brush or, if it is suitable for spraying , with an airbrush.
